Our Practice

We are an Architecture & Interior design practice established in 2004, specialising in delivering mid to high-end residential projects from concept to completion. David and Lisa are founding partners with a growing practice of 5 designers. We are a small and friendly team that enjoys working closely with our clients to achieve their aspirations.

Our homes are individually designed to be a reflection of each unique site and client, but always with a common thread of timeless design, longevity and functionality. We pride ourselves in designing buildings that sit seamlessly with the environment and site.

Equally as important, we help clients identify how to prioritise their budget when embarking on a construction project and we understand that it’s not always just about creating a home, but also adding value to the property as an investment.

David Smyth - Director

David Smyth is a Registered Architect NSW ARB no. 10044 with a B. Architecture from the University of Technology, Sydney & is a member of the Australian Institute of Architects. David graduated in 1989 and has a professional career spanning over 40 years, working in varied sized architectural practices & on differing project types, including commercial developments, residential projects, & corporate office interiors both in Australia & throughout south east Asia. Having formed the design practise of Smyth & Smyth Pty Ltd (with Lisa) in 2004, they have enjoyed over 20 years creating beautiful homes for their clients.

Lisa Smyth - Director
Lisa Smyth - Director

Lisa Smyth has a Bachelor of Design (interiors) from the University of Technology, Sydney. Lisa has a professional career spanning over 25 years, working in varied sized design practices & on differing project types, including commercial developments, residential projects, & corporate office interiors both in Australia & throughout South East Asia. Lisa worked for Geyer in Sydney as a senior designer and was appointed associate in 2002. She was responsible for managing design teams on a number of landmark commercial office tenancy fitouts for client such as IBM, Compaq and Deutche bank.

Nicola Lumsden - Associate
Nicola Lumsden - Associate

Having grown up in Zimbabwe and South Africa, Nicola moved to London to pursue her passion for architecture and interiors in 2008, qualifying later with a Ba (hons) and Masters in Architecture from the University of Westminster, she is currently a registered member of the architect’s registration board (UK). Nicola has 7 years professional experience designing and delivering private residential projects in London, having worked for small, design-led practices. Through the use of considered design and materials, Nicola enjoys the challenge of achieving a client’s aspirations for their new home, and how they intend to live day-to-day.

Jason Yenson - Project Lead
Jason Yenson - Project Lead

Jason has obtained a Master of Architecture from the University of Sydney. Over the past 9+ years, Jason has worked on a myriad of projects across many residential and commercial sectors. It was his passion for the more personal and considered nature of high-end residential projects which led Jason to join the Smyth and Smyth team in early 2021. Jason is passionate about the opportunity to work closely with a client to deliver their dream home and to inspire new ways of living.

Cody Verney - Project Lead
Cody Verney - Project Lead

After completing his Bachelor of Design and Master of Architecture at QUT and working on various scales of residential developments in Brisbane he relocated to London. There he worked for several years at a prestigious residential firm gaining exposure working on some of the most exclusive homes in the UK. Cody has since relocated to Sydney with the goal of bringing an elevated and refined European touch to his projects. With 10 years of experience in the industry Cody combines his architectural experience with a passion for interiors to design functional and beautiful homes tailored to the specific needs of his clients.

Tilda Cook - Interior Designer
Tilda Cook - Interior Designer

Since completing her Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration in 2019, Tilda has pursued many avenues within design, allowing her to greater understand the industry and all it has to offer.

Tilda has worked alongside countless designers in her previous role as Design Consultant and Interior Design Assistant, providing design services for both residential and commercial projects on all scales.

With 4 years experience in the design industry, Tilda is driven by the desire to create captivating and unique designs that prioritises the client’s needs while considering our environmental footprint.
